Basic Information

  • Minimum age 18 years : Both parties must be of legal age to marry in Las Vegas. If you want to get married before you turn 18, you need a Declaration of consent from the parents or guardian. If you are under 16 years old, you need you also get approval from the Nevada District Court.

  • Single, widowed or legally divorced: For a legally binding marriage you must be single, widowed or legally divorced. Same-sex marriages are also possible in Las Vegas. First cousin marriages are not allowed.

  • Wedding witnesses are compulsory: If you want to get married without friends or relatives in Vegas you can ask someone to take the role. Witnesses are often offered by the chapels.

  • Marriage License: The Marriage License is registered at the Marriage License Bureau and needs to be personally requested by the bride and groom. This license will be required for the actual wedding and must be presented there. It is available on site for a fee from $ 77 and is valid for exactly 1 year.

Insider tip: It's recommended to purchase the license 1 to 2 days before the marriage. On weekends and especially on days that are very popular for weddings (New Years Eve, Valentine's Day etc.) it could come to longer waiting times.

You can either choose to be married by a justice of peace, a minister or another state authorized person.
The wedding can be held either as a church or civil ceremony in a wedding chapel or as a civil ceremony in the registry office.
